VA 402 SENIOR STUDIO
Welcome to Week 8! We have our midterm crit this week. You have until Sunday, Nov. 8th, end of day to post (update posts, etc), You have until Sunday, Nov. 15th to leave feedback.
I have a quick walkthrough of the Final Report for you, and there is a link to sign up for individual consultations which happen next week.
This week my drawing class had the pleasure of listening to an artist talk by Bruce Thompson (MFA University of Windsor). I'm sharing it here, with permission, as I wonder if some of you might find his work as interesting as I do. Thompson is an artist who works in painting and drawing. His work is "focused on bringing the everyday happenings – walks, objects, and the phenomenological, to visual form. Previous work dealt with LGBTQ couple’s portraits and gatherings." He produces "large scale drawings/paintings that address the notion of the everyday as monumental." His talk is geared towards new artists trying to figure out what it means to inject work with meaning, but I still think that this talk might be welcomed in this space. You can watch it here: Part 1 Part 2
