Landlocked

"Landlocked" is an autopathographical response to a diagnosis. The work features a fully dissectible body with a ribcage that unbuttons. The body's vascular system spills onto the floor and forms a map of the city before moving into a house made of sweaters that cuts through the gallery wall. The work was participatory, and I would often return to the gallery space to reassemble the body. At times I would find it quite apart, sometimes exceptionally so - by the end of the show, some bones and skin had even been dethreaded. Conversely, there were times I would return to the space to repair it and find the body lovingly reassembled by a viewer, tucked into place with care.
